Nyam Recipes – Garlic Mayo & Pepper Shrimp Pasta

Read Time:1 Minute, 57 Second

A couple of weeks back, I wanted to make a new dish as I had been in a cycle of making yakiudon, curry and spaghetti for work lunches. Recently Holly Nilsson from Spend with Pennies recipe for Garlic Shrimp Pasta inspired me to create my own. Using seafood and spaghetti together is a common thing but the sauce was always something I didn’t know how to create differently apart from using standard tomato and chilli sauce. On top of that, there’s a lot of sauces people use for pasta dishes such as carbonara, tomato and even pesto. Garlic Mayo was a sauce that I had only tried with pizza as a dipping sauce.

Ingredients (Serves 2-3)

  • 1 Whole onion
  • 2 Garlic
  • 1 packet of Shrimp
  • 250-300g of Pasta (Usual Spaghetti/Linguine is what I recommend best)
  • 3 tablespoons of Mayonnaise (I used Kewpie but Hellmans is good too!)
  • Garlic Crusher
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of Black or White Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of Parsley
  • 1 teaspoon of Oregano
  • 1 teaspoon of Basil
  • 3 Chilli peppers (Red x 2, Green x 1)

How-to Recipe

  1. This recipe can be made in less than 20 minutes. Firstly, you need to make the sauce and spaghetti. Crush two garlics in a garlic crusher and use 2-3 big spoonful’s of mayonnaise. I used Kewpie Mayo for my recipe so I would say a ¼ of the squeezy bottle that everyone is used to using would be enough.
  2. Once mixed together, add the seasoning of oregano, basil and parsley here. It’ll create a nice colour and the smell of the garlic, mayonnaise and seasoning will be more enticing.
  3. You should focus next on the spaghetti. That’ll take about 15 minutes to cook depending on your stove. Once finished, drain and leave for now.
  4. In a separate pan, start with the onion and chillies then add the shrimp. The latter should be the last thing you should add unless you like the shrimp really crunchy.
  5. Add the rest of the seasoning to the pan with the shrimp and it’ll all soak up immediately once mixed together. Also you should be able to add the sauce together to the food. Drain the rest of the water of the spaghetti and also mix into the rest.
