One place I really wanted to go to in Toronto was Albert’s Real Jamaican Foods. It was one of many places I had seen on Instagram and wanted to see if it was one of the best places to go eat at.
The jerk pork was okay but had no spice to it which was a bit of a letdown. Compared to the jerk pork I had in Bahia Principe hotels, it was clear that it was not from a jerk pan and a bit rubbery in taste so I did regret it and wish I tried the jerk chicken instead.

The curry goat was more of a spotlight for me. While it’s not the curry goat from Mongoose was tender, had a good kick of spice and not too chewy. I noticed the colouring didn’t stick to my nails but the spice lingered a bit so it was enjoyable and went nicely with the rice and peas it came with.
My verdict? It was great, some of the food tasted like they were made at home and some didn’t. It wasn’t too spicy enough compared to most places that I’ve been to sadly but this could be an improvement for the future. I am excited to try Albert’s jerk sauce and make home cooked jerk chicken with it.
I do wish I went with more people to try their curry chicken, patties and jerk chicken but they’ll always be a next time to go back to Albert’s Real Jamaica Foods as I loved going to Toronto.
