Spicy Stir Fried Noodles at Yun Gui Chuan

A Hong Kong staple that made its way to London in 2022, Yun Gui Chuan Rice Noodle is something I wish came to London back in the day. I went to the Bankside branch with a friend and we tried Yun Gui Ghuan for the first time and there’s a variety of rice noodles dishes – stir fry or in a soup base – and the best bit is that you can choose your spice level from the menu, something that I hope more eateries do.

I chose the Stir-Fried Rice Noodles with Spicy Pork Belly and Tofu Puff while my friend got the King of Sour and Spicy. For anyone wanting to try the soup base dishes, check for allergies cause I wanted to try the King of Hot and Numbing but was told there’s nuts in it 😭

My friend chose medium while I chose hot, both stir fry and soup base dishes have different spice levels but are not white washed in anyway. The spice was great; it’s a comfortable heat that may have you sniffing but perfect for those who have a cold or sore throat. The peppercorns and chillis used in both dishes mixed well with the tender meat and tofu but definitely could have been hotter, it’s likely they were being careful because people complain if it’s too hot in London.

My only complaint is that the portion for the stir fry couldn’t have been bigger for the price it was but I definitely want to come back again and try other dishes at the maximum spice like the Spicy Seared Ox Tongue and maybe Hot and Numbing if they can take out the peanut?
