While I didn’t find an authentic Cypriot dish with spice in it, I found something that fits Cyprus perfectly – Olive oil with red chilli pepper.

Olives apparently are an integral part of Cypriot cuisine so finding an olive oil with a hint of spice in it was something that I had to find. Used for cooking too, the pepper olive oil is perfect for a range of dishes. Some of the ones I’ve used it for have been:
- Curry
- Pizza
- Noodles with chicken and vegetables
- Tofu
It also works nicely with frozen food products or ones that’s easy to fry e.g. sausages, waffles, bacon.

l highly recommend these two for newbies to spicy ingredients and food as there’s no scent to your food, flavour on your tongue or a reaction to your belly after eating. But in my opinion, there’s definitely a change in the way it affects your food in comparison to normal olive oil or even sesame oil.
