Mealtime Malatang’s Spicy Soup Base

Mealtime Malatang’s Spicy Soup Base

Read Time:1 Minute, 15 Second

When my friend introduced me to this place last November, I was in heaven. Mealtime Malatang is an experience that hotpot lovers would love. You can customise your own by selecting your ingredients (£3.60 each) and choosing your hot pot base. You can also get sauces or additional spices or seasoning (corinader, minced garlic and chilli peppers can be seen in the bowl on the right). The highlight of this place and why I’m making a post about it is the spicy soup base.

When my food came, I was pleasantly surprised with the colour of the broth which was more of an orangey-reddish colour. And the ingredients you add into it really complement the soup base. For mine, I added various food – tofu, fish balls, beef and lamb (roll) strips, squid, crab claw, spinach, beansprouts, inari, instant ramen, renkon. This is only from what I can remember and my total came to around £18. Some of my friends were between £17-20 as it depends on the weight of your hotpot.

Now for the taste, I’m happy to say it’s not a British level of spice where it’s been diluted down for the majority. While it’s not Haidilao’s level where it can numb your tongue, it’s slightly weaker for customers to enjoy and still around the Sichuan level. It’s definitely one of the best places to go for lunch or dinner this Winter!
