5 Spiciest CoCo Ichibanya Combos

Read Time:1 Minute, 56 Second

It’s not just about choosing the highest level, but the impact of how certain toppings go well with the spice or – and in my mind – increases the spice within your dish. Customising your curry with the toppings of your choice can make or break how much the spice complements your CoCo experience, I’m serious.

That’s why I’ve listed a Top 5 that unifies the right consistency of taste for you all to get the best combo with added spice. These combos are universal and are available in all six branches that I have previously reviewed. Cheese is included in these for aesthetic but no recommended to add in.

Fried Chicken and Squid Curry (フライドチキンとイカカレー)

Eating smaller bites of food gives this slow increase of spice within the curry. There’s something about the crunchy texture of these toppings that brings forward the curry’s impact of flavour along with the spicy taste.

Omelette and Pork Katsu with Cheese (オムレットとロースカツチーズカツカレー)

Omucurry is slowly becoming a favourite among CoCo curry enthusiasts. The great thing about having an omelette in your curry is that there’s more peppery sauce to go around the dish. The pork cutlet is a popular topping to have with the omelette because I believe the pork out of the other meat cutlets makes it have a spicier flavour to it.

Vegetable Curry (野菜カレー)

Vegetable curries always incorporate a lot of spice into the curry. There’s something about the ingredients for this particular topping in the curry that brings out the spice more. This topping is not to be underestimated especially when trying the highest level of spice.

Minced meat cutlet with cheese (チーズメンチカツカレー)

Like the omelette katsu curry, the minced meat cutlet meshes really well with the curry even though it’s the smallest one in size. This cutlet is quite special and brings a spicier flavour that complements the curry. A shame that it is not available in the overseas branches I have been to but it is my favourite when in Japan for being succulent and softer than the other cutlets.

Thin-sliced pork with spinach curry (豚しゃぶとほうれん草カレー)

Pork for definite elevates the curry’s spice but adding in spinach is quite delicious to enhance that flavour. Mixing it with this vegetable gave it more of a smooth taste to the curry but still the spice is amplified.
